Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.
The 27-year-old captured four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of Consistency
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a historic £11m in prize money.
She garnered nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
