The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating action and madness with equal excitement, all while weaving captivating, politically driven stories. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two creators whose projects have represented all of those elements.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by having a new location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our common bold, daring sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
