Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Real Supporters'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on the Manager
Spurs fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "they cannot be true Spurs fans" by boss Frank.
Tottenham let in a pair of scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth top-flight home loss of 2025.
However the primary talking point was the visitors' next score when the keeper gave away possession far outside his area.
He ventured out to handle a long ball and carried the ball near the sideline.
But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.
Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper again, a number of Spurs supporters jeered him.
Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.
One of those jeering episodes truly irritated Frank.
"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently booed the incident and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented regarding the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"Those individuals can't be real Spurs fans that do that. Fair enough jeering after the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are with each other moving ahead."
Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second-half performance.
Former Premier League keeper Hart stated that the next goal was "completely preventable".
"I do understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He is a excellent team player, he is a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the winning goal."
'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italian national team the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.
He said following the match that he had to take the criticism.
"The second score was a mistake of mine, I take responsibility for that," he said.
"The intent was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult challenge to overcome."
He said being booed "is part of football".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It is on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a bad defeat and it is tough to accept."
'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Line'
In spite of the keeper's error, it was not an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the second most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to target.
10 seconds elapsed between Vicario exiting of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds after the kick.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for ages," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the line. When not one of them defended the net, my interest lit up somewhat.
"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. After that it was all about attempting to make the right connection and get it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'
Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
While Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home ground woes.
The match was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a shared club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.
They still have home games against the manager's old side the Bees and title holders Liverpool to play before the close of the season.
Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," said Frank.
"When you're in a poor run, everything seems to work against you as well – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.
"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have suffered an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we were defeated in the early stages.
"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can use to develop."
Tottenham have been defeated in four straight home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.
And they are averaging nine point five shots and three point two shots on target per match in the division – their lowest averages on file in a one campaign (since at least 2003-04).
Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.
"He must take the criticism," the pundit said. "He's taken a high profile role at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.
"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
