Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Worries.

'Significant concern' for England as Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.

The pace bowler further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the playing area early on day two of the Boxing Day Test against Australia.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

The touring camp reported the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and was to take time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The final Test of the series at the SCG begins at the end of the week.

The visitors have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.

He was dropped for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.

Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, before adding 28 with the bat as one of just three England players to reach double figures.

Post a single over late on the first day, he came back for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out the Adelaide game.
