Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive issued a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public figures offered varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive remarks that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the detractors recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and suggested they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate ought to have stepped in when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
