British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends her season and has decided to continue with trainer through next year.
Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three of the four Grand Slam events this year.
Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year because of a medical condition she has been fighting over the past 10 days.
At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to regain her health before starting her preparations for 2026.
These plans will include her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.
She had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.
Her movement was with clear difficulty in the deciding set against Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has troubled her during parts of the season.
Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.
She held three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.
The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.
Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route then falling in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.
She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.
The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in late this year.
Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.
Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
